Alexis is currently completing a Bachelor of Economics and African-American Studies at Columbia University in New York City. She is passionate about creating her own Non-Profit organization that will create after school programs for children and teens in impoverished areas worldwide.
Alexis’ experience involves working at La Casa de Los Ninos, an after school program in San Jose, Costa Rica, where she tutored elementary students. She had a multitude of responsibilities that include teaching the kids about proper hygiene, fostering good mental health for the children who are neglected and abused, as well as teaching the kids good team work and problem solving skills. In addition, she has also worked as a counselor for Foster Teens which has only catalyzed her passion in child development and education. Prior to this, Alexis has worked at the non-profit, Community Impact, and interned at her school’s athletic media department, which have developed her ability to work in a team and a fast-paced environment that often calls for multi-tasking.
