Throughout his career, Peter has travelled many roads, managed to avoid most potholes but, unsurprisingly, he’s also fallen into a few. He continues to learn from his varied experiences and has created a number of successful enterprises along the way.
Peter worked with the international PA Consulting Group for almost 16 years and, for his last six years, was the Managing Director of PA’s companies in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia which supported 35 expatriate and local professional consultants. The breadth of PA’s work provided its people with a broad insight into a variety of private and government business sectors.
Peter arrived at a stage where he wanted to ‘do his own thing’ and left Singapore for Perth, Western Australia. Soon after his arrival in Perth, Peter became a founding shareholder in a digital controls company proving services to the commercial building sector. As Managing Director, he led the company to achieve over a 30% share of the Australian market and a significant penetration in the Singapore market. Peter and the Australian shareholders exited via a trade sale to a US based group.
Peter then saw an opportunity to amalgamate three companies operating in the telco sector and simultaneously list the combined group on ASX. After its public debut, Westel Group Limited went on to become the largest independent Telstra MobileNet dealer in Western Australia, and its wireless division became an approved supplier of in-house developed wireless PABXs to the giant AT&T Corporation in the US. Peter moved on when a large overseas investor took control of the Company.
Peter was then invited to become an Investment Manager with Western Australia’s largest venture capital group, Foundation Capital. In this role, he identified investment opportunities, led due diligence teams, negotiated funding terms and managed a portfolio of investees.
In the early noughties, Peter and his family moved to Adelaide, South Australia to follow their shared passion to be involved in equestrian activities. While nurturing several Friesian horses in the Adelaide Hills, he also became a founding shareholder in, and an Executive Director of, a fintech company building a platform to automate the management of Self Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSFs). This role required Peter to spend increasing time in Sydney and it made sense to move closer to the market. Sydney has now been the family home for the last seven years.
Since moving to Sydney, Peter has worked with several organisations to assist them to become investment ready, develop robust commercialisation strategies and raise the capital required to develop products and services, and their markets. Current active projects cover waste recycling, regenerative agriculture, life sciences, and fiat and cryptocurrency payment platforms.
Peter holds a Bachelors’ Degree in Engineering (Honours) from Melbourne University. He is an experienced ‘C-level’ executive, consultant and investment manager with broad venture capital/private equity experience.
