Born and bred in Haarlem, The Netherlands, Wouter has spent over 15 years where creativity, technology and data meet customer. As a convention free explorer, he’s helped companies scale up across Telco, Retail, Travel, Finance and MarTech.
“Make marketing suck less, by solving the puzzle of the fragmented customer journey.”
His curiosity, healthy aversion to the status quo and drive to experiment were a boon for his education. Yet it is exactly this convention-free problem solving approach that was key in the emerging online industry and helped him succeed in both startups and major corporates.
Wouter has worked at some of the most sophisticated advertisers in the world to keep pushing the envelope in marketing technology. As Marketing Intrepreneur he helps potential scale ups and corporates with their martech challenges, in roles varying from interim CMO to executive coach and board member. As VP digital at Sprint, he inhoused online marketing and proved incremental effect of online on sales in their 5000 stores. As CMO at Coolblue, the Dutch example for customer centricity, he showed how clients respond to branding messages. While at Google, he oversaw the partnership with one of the world’s largest and most sophisticated advertisers, Booking.com. Before Google he worked in startups, as CMO at Deloitte Fast50 finalist EasyToBook.com (acquired by Cheaptickets in 2011) and prior to that at co-founder at SEM agency ClearSense (acquired by World Directories in 2006). Wouter is married and has 4 children.
